Maria has created a self portrait. She chose the colors because she likes them. The faces in most of Maria's drawings are much larger than the rest of the bodies. This is probably because, to children, faces are the most important part of the people around them. From faces, children interpret emotions and distinquish characteristics that help them tell people apart. She has drawn herself happy. She was unable to comment on the two objects to her left. Perhaps they are toys or cookies, two objects beloved of my daughter. This is a crayon drawing, created in her fifth year.
